Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-5) beat at home bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (3-8) 101-83 on Wednesday. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was power forward Anthony Smith (201-1997, college: Murray St.) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Lillard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach John Welch used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Deverell Biggs (185-1992, college: Texas Southern) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-1991, college: NW Missouri St.) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains fourth position with 6-5 record. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon lost third consecutive game.
