Regular Season Round 6: Quetzales - Mieleras 78-96

An interesting game for Mieleras (8-2) which played road game in Ciudad de Mexico against 4th ranked Quetzales (4-6). Second ranked Mieleras had an easy win 96-78. It was a great shooting night for Mieleras especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Cuban Oyanaisy Gelis (172-1983) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Mieleras players scored in double figures. Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and Melissa Gutierrez (, agency: ROCKIN SPORTS) added 19 points in the effort for Quetzales. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mieleras have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-2 record having six points less than leader Teporacas. Quetzales lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Mieleras are looking forward to face Racers (#3) in Saltillo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Quetzales will play against Lenadoras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
