A very close game took place in Caracas between Brillantes and Heroes. First ranked Brillantes (5-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Heroes (3-4). Brillantes managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Sunday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brillantes made 10 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international center Miguel Marriaga (205-1984) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. American forward Glen Rice Jr (198-1991, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side naturalized Colombian Luis Almanza (196-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Kevin Nino (195-1991) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brillantes maintains first place with 5-2 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Heroes at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost.
