Very expected game when 6th ranked Venados (7-9) lost on the road to second ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (10-6) 99-87 on Tuesday. The winners were led by American forward Johnny Hughes III (203-1997, college: UIW) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by American power forward Alex Kaye Williams (203-1993) did not help to save the game for Venados. His fellow American import guard Jalek Felton (190-1998, college: UNC) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains second position with 10-6 record behind leader Hermosillo. Loser Venados dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will again meet Venados (#4) in the next round. Venados will have a break next round.
