Regular Season Round 9: Marinos - Guaiqueries 88-87

The most exciting game of round 9 in the SPB took place in Puerto La Cruz. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Guaiqueries (5-3) to fourth ranked Marinos (3-4) 88-87 on Wednesday evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Guaiqueries helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dominican Yeison Colome (190-1996) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Dominican forward Miguel Simon (203, college: ASA CC) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Marinos' coach Lucas Zurita used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Tre McLean (197-1993, college: Chattanooga) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and American-Dominican center Justin Satchell (203-1995, college: St.Leo) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Marinos and five Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Marinos moved-up to third place, which they share with Gigantes. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. They share it with Trotamundos and Gaiteros. Marinos is looking forward to face Cangrejeros (#5) in Maturin in the next round. Guaiqueries will play on the road against Spartans in Caracas and are hoping to win this game.
