Regular Season Round 12: Diablos - Panteras 87-93

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Panteras (#3) and Diablos (#5). Diablos were defeated at home 87-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by the former international swingman Pedro Chourio (186-1990, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 assists and American guard Avry Holmes (185-1994, college: Clemson) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Even 26 points by Dominican point guard Raimer Santana (183-1997) did not help to save the game for Diablos. The former international point guard Abrouse Acosta (180-1992) added 11 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Guaiqueries. Diablos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Panteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Diablos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Spartans.
