Regular Season Round 9: Guaymas - Los Mochis 98-88

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas and 6th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis had identical 7-10 record. This time Ostioneros de Guaymas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Los Mochis 98-88 on Wednesday night. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Anthony Smith (201-1997, college: Murray St.) who scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Dylan Smith (196-1997, college: Arizona) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Che Robert (198-1996, college: Colorado St.) who recorded 24 points and guard Jamar Sandifer (193-1997, college: SWOSU) added 19 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas (8-10) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mazatlan. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tijuana. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to secure a win.
