There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (10-12) lost on the road to bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (6-16) 92-78 on Tuesday. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ostioneros de Guaymas' 28. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jimmy Whitt (190-1997, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach Martin Knezevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Markel Crawford (196-1994, college: Ole Miss) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Anthony Smith (201-1997, college: Murray St.) added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Ostioneros de Guaymas in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon maintains eighth place with 6-16 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Tijuana and Mazatlan. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will meet higher ranked Venados (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo and will have a slim chance for a victory.
