Second Stage Round 3: Mexcaltecas - Mieleras 91-100

An interesting game for Mieleras (2-0) which played road game in Tepic against Mexcaltecas (0-2). Mieleras managed to get a 9-point victory 100-91. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mexcaltecas' 32. They outrebounded Mexcaltecas 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Mieleras players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Mayra Gil (174-2003) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Mieleras' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Jaqueline Castrejon (175) with 19 points and 5 assists and Erika Gonzalez scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Mieleras will play against Racers in Saltillo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mexcaltecas will have a break next round.
