There was no surprise in Maturin where 9th ranked Cangrejeros (2-11) were edged by fifth ranked Panteras (9-8) 79-78 on Sunday. Panteras shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Avry Holmes (185-1994, college: Clemson) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Martin Escobar (185-1988) chipped in 16 points. Swingman Morris Sierralta (190-1987) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and American Akeem Ellis (196-1990, college: Coppin St.) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts.
