Very expected game in Puerto Ordaz where 7th ranked Gigantes (6-9) were defeated by third ranked Panteras (10-8) 89-75 on Tuesday. American guard Avry Holmes (185-1994, college: Clemson) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and Jamaican-American forward Staphon Blair (206-1993, college: UCF, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Panteras' coach Daniel Seoane used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-1978) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Osbel Caraballo (196-1998, college: STAC) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Panteras maintains third place with 10-8 record having just one point less than leader Gladiadores. Gigantes at the other side keep the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Centauros. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
