Regular Season Round 21: Guaiqueries - Piratas 77-80

A very close game took place in Porlamar between Piratas and Guaiqueries. Fourth ranked Piratas (9-3) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Guaiqueries (8-7). Piratas managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 in the game for the fourth place. Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) stepped up and scored 17 points and 4 assists for the winners and Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Tre McLean (197-1993, college: Chattanooga) with 20 points and American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Piratas maintains fourth place with 9-3 record. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guaiqueries will play against Spartans (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
