Important game to mention about took place in Margarita. Seventh ranked Centauros (7-9) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging 5th ranked Gaiteros (9-9) 82-81 on Wednesday evening. Centauros made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Spanish-Dominican power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206-1996) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Quade Green (183-1998, college: Washington) chipped in 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Matthew Butler (188-1995, college: UT Martin) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and British Robert Gilchrist (206-1990, college: FSU) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Gaiteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Centauros maintains seventh position with 7-9 record. Gaiteros at the other side keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Centauros will play against Toros (#10) in Maracay in the next round. Gaiteros will play on the road against Brillantes (#4) in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
