An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sampaio Basquete. Second ranked Sampaio faced 4th ranked Vera Cruz. Host Sampaio (7-1) defeated guests from Vera Cruz (3-5) 78-65. Sampaio looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Vera Cruz's players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Taina Paixao (175-1991) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Patty Teixeira (175-1990) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Sampaio's coach Cristian Santander used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Carina Martins (175-1992) produced 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Izabella Sangalli (182-1995) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Sampaio and four Vera Cruz players scored in double figures. Sampaio have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader Sesi/Arara. Vera Cruz at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Catanduva and LSB. Sampaio are looking forward to face Blumenau (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vera Cruz will play against the league's leader Sesi/Arara. and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
