The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Spartans' (9-7) road victory over 7th ranked Gigantes (6-10) 90-78 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and the former international guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-1995) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Spartans players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard DaQuan Brooks (177-1990, college: W.Connecticut) with 23 points and 6 assists and the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-1978) scored 8 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartans have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Gigantes keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Spartans' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Cocodrilos.
