Regular Season Round 24: Cangrejeros - Piratas 84-90

Very expected game in Maturin where 10th ranked Cangrejeros (3-13) were defeated by fourth ranked Piratas (10-4) 90-84 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 9 rebounds and Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-1997, college: S.Dakota) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Luis Julio (201-1980) scored 20 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas moved-up to third place. Loser Cangrejeros keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Piratas will meet at home league's leader Gladiadores in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cangrejeros will have a break next round.
