Very significant was Mieleras' (#1, 4-0) victory against second-best Racers (2-2) 77-68. Mieleras forced 22 Racers turnovers. The former international center Frida Gonzalez (184-1992) notched 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-1992, college: Butler) supported her with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Mieleras' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds by American forward Brittney Smith (190-1999, college: Georgia) did not help to save the game for Racers. Point guard Jhoana Moran (157-1993, agency: ROCKIN SPORTS) added 18 points. Mieleras have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Teporacas. Racers at the other side keep the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Lobas. Mieleras will play against Mexcaltecas (#3) in Tepic in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Racers will have a break next round.
