A very close game took place in Ciudad Obregon between Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and Astros. Eighth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-19) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Astros (15-13). Halcones de Ciudad Obregon managed to escape with a 3-point win 92-89 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American players dominated also this game. Forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and guard Jimmy Whitt (190-1997, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds by forward Isaiah Whaley (203-1998, college: UConn) did not help to save the game for Astros. Forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) added 19 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon maintains eighth position with 9-19 record. Astros lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the second place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Mazatlan and Culiacan. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will meet higher ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astros will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) and hope to secure a win.
