Third-ranked Venados (16-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (25-5). Rayos de Hermosillo managed to secure only one-point victory 92-91. However their fans expected easier game. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was an exceptional evening for guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) who led the winners and scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Aaron Wheeler (206-1998, college: St.John's) accounted for 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists and center Alonzo Stafford (200-1993, college: CCC) added 17 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Venados in the defeat. Four Venados players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-5 record. Venados at the other side keep the third position with 14 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Venados will play against the league's second-placed Astros (#2) in Guadalajara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
