An interesting game for Mieleras (5-0) which hosted in Guanajuato 3rd placed Mexcaltecas (0-5). Leader Mieleras had an easy win 89-62. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Mexcaltecas' 36. They outrebounded Mexcaltecas 52-28 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mieleras looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Mexcaltecas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-1992, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Mieleras' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Jaqueline Castrejon (175) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian guard Arianna Macias (175, college: St.Mary's) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Mexcaltecas. Four Mexcaltecas players scored in double figures. Mieleras have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Teporacas. Mexcaltecas at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Mieleras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mexcaltecas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Racers in Saltillo and hope to get finally their first victory.
