The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis' (12-18) home victory over bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-21) 103-95 on Friday. Pioneros Los Mochis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jimmy Whitt (190-1997, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 27 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Justin Everett (206-1996, college: Humboldt St.) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Five Pioneros Los Mochis and four Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pioneros Los Mochis. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will meet at home higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to secure a win.
