Regular Season Round 15: Hermosillo - Mazatlan 87-100

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (25-5) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Venados (16-14) 100-87. It ended at the same time the 16-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. It was a great shooting night for Venados especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for center Vincent Boumann (206-1996, college: WOU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) helped adding 24 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Terrell Brown-Soares (208-1998, college: San Diego) with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) scored 17 points and 8 assists. Five Venados and four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venados maintains third place with 16-14 record having nine points less than leader Hermosillo. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Venados are looking forward to face league's second-placed Astros in Guadalajara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rayos de Hermosillo will play at home against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and is hoping to win this game.
