Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (11-19) were defeated at home by second ranked Astros (17-13) 107-102 on Saturday. Astros made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Isaiah Whaley (203-1998, college: UConn) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Point guard Jerime Anderson (188-1989, college: UCLA) chipped in 23 points and 7 assists. Astros' coach Ariel Rearte used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Markel Crawford (196-1994, college: Ole Miss) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Roddy Peters (193-1995, college: Nicholls St.) added 21 points, 9 assists and 5 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Five Astros and four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Astros maintains second place with 17-13 record having eight points less than leader Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. Astros will meet at home Venados (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Caballeros de Culiacan (#4) and hope to secure a win.
