Regular Season Round 16: Astros - Mazatlan 85-91

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Guadalajara where their biggest opponent Astros (18-14) were defeated by third ranked Venados (17-15) 91-85 on Monday. Venados looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and center Alonzo Stafford (200-1993, college: CCC) who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Jerime Anderson (188-1989, college: UCLA) responded with 20 points and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Astros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Venados maintains third position with 17-15 record having nine points less than leader Hermosillo. Newly promoted Astros keep the second place with 14 games lost. Venados will meet at home Caballeros de Culiacan (#4) in the next round. Astros will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and hope to secure a win.
