Very predictable result when first ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (26-6) beat at home bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (10-22) 88-83 on Tuesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rayos de Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nojel Eastern (198-1999, college: Purdue) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists and forward Aaron Wheeler (206-1998, college: St.John's) who added 22 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) responded with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Justin Everett (206-1996, college: Humboldt St.) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rayos de Hermosillo maintains first position with 26-6 record. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon stay at the bottom place with 22 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will meet Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
