Regular Season Round 16: Los Mochis - Tijuana 100-99

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (16-16) were edged on the road by sixth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (13-19) 100-99 on Tuesday. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Kennedy Jones (188-1989, college: Arlington Baptist) who added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach Guillermo Vecchio allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) responded with 36 points (!!!) (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Idris Alvarado (196-1991) scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Pioneros Los Mochis and four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains sixth position with 13-19 record. Loser Tijuana Zonkeys dropped to the fourth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Culiacan. Pioneros Los Mochis will meet bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#8) on the road in the next round. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against the league's second-placed Astros (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
