Rather expected game when 6th ranked Centauros (10-12) lost to fourth ranked Brillantes (13-7) in Caracas 76-87 on Friday. Brillantes outrebounded Centauros 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Brillantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Glen Rice Jr (198-1991, college: Georgia Tech) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international swingman Cesar Silva (190-1981) supported him with 15 points. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by Spanish-Dominican power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206-1996) did not help to save the game for Centauros. Swingman Melvin Zambrano (193-1995) added 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brillantes moved-up to third place, which they share with Piratas. Loser Centauros keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Brillantes will again meet at home Centauros (#6) in the next round. Centauros will have a break next round.
