The game in Caracas was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Piratas (15-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Panteras (11-13). Piratas did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 96-79 on Monday. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 4 steals and the former international center Javinger Vargas (202-1990) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Greek guard Vangelis Mantzaris (196-1990) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and Jhonatan Acosta (197-1996) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Piratas and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas moved-up to third place. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Piratas will meet at home Marinos (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Panteras will play against Gigantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
