Rather expected game when 9th ranked Taurinos (5-20) were smashed by sixth ranked Centauros (11-15) in Margarita 76-54 on Friday. Centauros dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Taurinos' 30. They outrebounded Taurinos 49-32 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spanish-Dominican power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206-1996) notched 8 points and 19 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Melvin Zambrano (193-1995) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Centauros' coach Alexis Cedres felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by forward Jhonder Gomez (196-2002) did not help to save the game for Taurinos. Jean Payen (193-2003) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Centauros maintains sixth position with 11-15 record. Taurinos lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Cangrejeros. Centauros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Taurinos will play against Toros (#10) in Maracay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
