Regular Season Round 8: Univ.de Chile - Rancagua 71-28
Date: May 27, 2023
Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Univ.de Chile (4-4) rolled over bottom-ranked Rancagua (0-7) in Santiago 71-28 on Saturday. Univ.de Chile held Rancagua to an opponent 16.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Univ.de Chile forced 36 Rancagua turnovers. The winners were led by Josefa Orrego (172-2003) who scored that evening 16 points and 5 rebounds and Carolina Morales (-2003) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Univ.de Chile players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 15 rebounds by Ailyn Roldan (-2000) did not help to save the game for Rancagua. Ariela Urrutia (-1998) added 4 points and 14 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Univ.de Chile have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brisas. Loser Rancagua still closes the standings with seven games lost. Univ.de Chile's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Luis ML.
