Regular Season Round 9: Sergio Ceppi - Brisas 93-28
Date: May 28, 2023
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Santiago: Sergio Ceppi (#2) and Brisas (#4). Sergio Ceppi (6-1) crushed visiting Brisas (4-4) by 65 points 93-28. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Brisas. Sergio Ceppi held Brisas to an opponent 16.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Sergio Ceppi forced 29 Brisas turnovers and outrebounded them 53-36 including a 43-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Brisas' players. The former international forward Francisca Salvatierra (173-1994) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and center Katalina Garcia (182-1994) accounted for 11 points and 11 rebounds. Five Sergio Ceppi players scored in double figures. Belen Carreno (-2005) came up with 7 points and 6 rebounds and Paulina Henrriquez added 7 points respectively for Brisas in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sergio Ceppi maintains second place with 6-1 record having just 2 victories less than leader CDSC, which they share with Frontera. Brisas at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Univ.de Chile. Sergio Ceppi will play against Rancagua (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Brisas' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Puente Alto.
