Regular Season Round 5: Adelitas - Halcones 69-74

The game between second ranked Adelitas (7-3) and ninth ranked Halcones (3-7) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Adelitas were defeated by Halcones in a tough game in Chihuahua 69-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Adelitas. They outrebounded Adelitas 54-36 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Nigerian forward Amy Okonkwo (188-1996, college: TCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. Canadian center Quinn Urbaniak-Dornstauder (193-1995, college: Arizona St.) contributed with 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Spanish guard Mariona Ortiz (183-1992) answered with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Adelitas. Four Adelitas players scored in double figures. Halcones moved-up to seventh place. Adelitas at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Astros. Halcones are looking forward to face Abejas (#8) in Leon in the next round. Adelitas will play on the road against Plateras (#9) in Fresnillo and are hoping to win this game.
