Regular Season Round 8: Azucareras - Indeportes 28-67

Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Azucareras (2-6) were smashed at home by top-ranked Indeportes (8-0) 67-28 on Friday. Indeportes held Azucareras to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Indeportes forced 27 Azucareras turnovers. The winners were led by the former international guard Carolina Lopez (188-1998) who scored that evening 11 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Yuliany Paz (195-2000) supported her with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Five Indeportes players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by forward Laura Martinez (-1994) did not help to save the game for Azucareras. Alejandra Cogollo (-2006) added 3 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indeportes have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Azucareras lost fourth consecutive game.
