Regular Season Round 6: Rojas - Libertadoras 53-73

There was no surprise in Veracruz where 5th ranked Rojas (5-5) were outplayed by second ranked Libertadores (10-2) 73-53 on Saturday. Libertadores forced 20 Rojas turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Lyndra Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Italian forward Marzia Tagliamento (183-1996) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures. Libertadores' coach Sandro Orlando used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) who recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-1990, college: Maryland) added 14 points respectively. Libertadores have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Panteras. Rojas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Libertadores will meet Abejas (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rojas will play against Freseras and hope to secure a win.
