Regular Season Round 7: Freseras - Rojas 65-91

No shocking result in a game in Irapuato where sixth ranked Rojas (7-5) smashed bottom-ranked Freseras (2-12) 91-65 on Thursday. Rojas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Freseras' 40. They outrebounded Freseras 49-30 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rojas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-1990, college: Maryland) helped adding 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward Dejza James (185-1995, college: Arizona) responded with 4 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rojas moved-up to fifth place. Loser Freseras stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Rojas will meet higher ranked Adelitas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Freseras will play against Astros (#3) in Jalisco and hope to secure a win.
