Not a big story in a game in Montevideo where 12th ranked Welcome (1-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Olimpia (4-1) 90-76 on Friday. Olimpia forced 19 Welcome turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Santiago Fernandez (186-2000) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Mateo Bianchi (205-2002) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and Fernando Verrone (201-1988) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Welcome's coach Diego Rivas tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Olimpia. They moved-up to second place. Loser Welcome dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. They share it with Miramar.
