Regular Season Round 9: Plateras - Correcaminos 96-78

Rather expected game in Fresnillo where 10th ranked Correcaminos (2-14) were defeated by eighth ranked Plateras (7-9) 96-78 on Monday. Plateras dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Jazmine Jones (183-1996, college: Louisville) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Her fellow American import forward Kamilah Jackson (183-1992, college: Hawaii) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Five Plateras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-1992, college: Butler) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Sarah Mgbeike (185, college: OLLU) added 22 points and 9 rebounds respectively. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Plateras. They maintain eighth place with 7-9 record. Correcaminos lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Abejas and Freseras. Plateras will meet higher ranked Astros (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Correcaminos will play against Rojas (#5) and hope to secure a win.
