Regular Season Round 14: Miramar - Olimpia 77-80

Fifteenth-ranked Miramar (2-8) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Olimpia (8-3) in Montevideo on Wednesday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected much easier game. American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Santiago Fernandez (186-2000) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Ivan Loriente (190-1992, agency: Pro Sports) replied with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Manuel Monteverde (194-1995) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Miramar. Four Olimpia and five Miramar players scored in double figures. Olimpia have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-3 record behind leader Urunday, which they share with Tabare. Miramar lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with eight games lost. Olimpia is looking forward to face Colon (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Miramar will play against Colon and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
