Everything went according to plan in Rio de Janeiro where tenth ranked Praia (5-2) beat 16th ranked Flamengo (2-5) 69-56 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Praia made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Raffael Mencarini (187-2001) who scored 27 points. Center Yago Rodrigues (208-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward Emanuel Fernandes (197-2003) produced 9 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Matheus Leoni (187-2003) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Praia moved-up to ninth place. Loser Flamengo dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Coritiba and Vila Velha. Praia will meet at home league's second-placed Pinheiros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flamengo will play against Cearense (#23) in Fortaleza and hope to secure a win.
