Not a big story in a game in Sao Paulo where 9th ranked Franca (5-3) was defeated by third ranked Caxias do Sul (7-1) 69-61 on Saturday. Caxias do Sul forced 22 Franca turnovers. The best player for the winners was Vinicius Chagas (202-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Leonardo Cravero (200-2002) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Edu Elevi (207-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds and guard Joao Machini (171-2004) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caxias do Sul maintains third place with 7-1 record behind leader Paulistano. Loser Franca dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Mogi. Caxias do Sul will meet at home Corinthians (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Franca will play against ABF Joinville and hope to secure a win.
