Very expected game when 7th ranked Mogi (1-3) lost to top-ranked Vivo/Franca (3-0) in Mogi das Cruzes 66-81 on Friday. Vivo/Franca dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Mogi's 20. They outrebounded Mogi 50-34 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international power forward Marcio Santos (204-2002) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and the former international point guard Alexey Borges (185-1995) supported him with 21 points and 5 assists. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by guard Luiz Mendonca (188) did not help to save the game for Mogi. Point guard Lucas Lacerda (180-1997) added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Vivo/Franca have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 3-0 record behind leader Paulistano. Loser Mogi dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Vivo/Franca will meet Sao Jose (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Mogi will play against Pinheiros and hope to win that game.
