Regular Season Round 1: Soles - Abejas 74-65

The biggest surprise of round 1 in LNBP took place in Mexicali where host Soles beat Abejas 74-65 on Saturday evening. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Luke Martinez (190-1990, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) fired 13 points and 8 assists for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-1990, college: Murray St., agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Five Soles players scored in double figures. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) produced 14 points and American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) added 9 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Abejas will play next round against Plateros trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Soles will try to continue on its current victory against Halcones UV Xalapa at home.
