Regular Season Round 6: Mogi - Sao Jose 81-84

A very close game took place in Mogi das Cruzes between Sao Jose and Mogi. Seventh ranked Sao Jose (3-3) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Mogi (1-5). Sao Jose managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Thursday evening. Sao Jose forced 20 Mogi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Power forward Renato Carbonari (202-1987) scored 26 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Victor Leal (203-1996) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-1980, college: USF) with 27 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Lucas Lacerda (180-1997) scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sao Jose moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bauru and Corinthians. Mogi lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. Sao Jose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mogi will play against Corinthians (#4) in Sao Paulo and hope to win that game.
