Second Stage Round 3: Welcome - Olimpia 76-91
Date: August 24, 2023
Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Montevideo: Olimpia (#2) and Welcome (#6). Welcome was defeated at home 76-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It was a great evening for guard Santiago Fernandez (186-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Ricardo Glenn (203-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 22 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Five Olimpia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Colombian Alvaro Pena (197-1995) with 24 points and 8 rebounds and forward Matias Nicoletti (193-1994) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
