The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Leon as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Leon edged 4th placed Brumas at home 80-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brumas. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists. Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach Jorge Velez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) answered with 26 points and 5 assists and Cuban Alejandro Alvarez (195-1992, agency: BIG) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Brumas. Leon have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Brumas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with UNI Basket.
