Regular Season Round 6: Campo Alto - Colonias 65-92

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias (#3) and Campo Alto (#6). Campo Alto was smashed at home by 27 points 65-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Colonias forced 20 Campo Alto turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Campo Alto was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Dominican Nehemias Morillo (197-1992, college: S.Florida) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Juan Poison contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Colonias' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian point guard Mauro Gauna (186-1999) replied with 17 points, 9 assists and 6 steals and Yuri Rodriguez added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Campo Alto. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Colonias maintains third position with 3-2 record having just three points less than leader San Jose. Campo Alto at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Colonias' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion San Jose.
