Regular Season Round 4: Santos - Panteras 78-81
Date: September 7, 2023
Important game to mention about took place in San Luis Potosi. Fourth ranked Panteras (5-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Santos (6-4) 81-78 on Thursday evening. The winners were led by Puerto Rican forward Christian Negron (201-1998, college: GVSU) who scored that evening 12 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Idris Alvarado (196-1991) supported him with 13 points. Even 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by American-Puerto Rican point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) did not help to save the game for Santos. U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Rakeem Christmas (206-1991, college: Syracuse) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Five Panteras and four Santos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Panteras moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Santos at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. They share it with Libertadores and Abejas. Panteras will play against league's second-placed Astros in Guadalajara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santos will play on the road against Abejas in Guanajuato and hope to get back on the winning track.
