Very significant was Jaguares' (#1, 7-2) victory against 4th ranked Leonas (2-7) 74-53. Jaguares held Leonas to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Jaguares had a 39-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by center Linda Patterson who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American swingman DAsia Chambers (182-1992, college: Slippery Rock) supported her with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Jaguares players scored in double figures. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) did not help to save the game for Leonas. Her fellow American import forward Jessica Martino (175-2000, college: Delaware St.) added 15 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jaguares maintains first position with 7-2 record. Leonas at the other side dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Jaguares will play against Tipitapa (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Leonas will play against UNI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
