Regular Season Round 13: Jaguares - Leon 93-87

The game between second ranked Leon (8-3) and sixth ranked Jaguares (6-5) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Leon was defeated by Jaguares in a tough game in Managua 87-93. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leon. Strangely Leon outrebounded Jaguares 49-37 including 30 on the offensive glass. American Joel Kindred (193-1991, college: St.Augustine) fired 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Christian Pizarro (180-1995, college: Miami Dade CC) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Jaguares' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) added 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Jaguares have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 6-5 record. Leon at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Jaguares will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leon will play on the road against Brumas in Jinotega and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
