The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Santos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Santos defeated their close opponent Astros in San Luis Potosi 104-87. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Santos shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 52.9 percentage. American-Puerto Rican point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Diego Willis (193-1999, college: SF Austin) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Santos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American Lagerald Vick (196-1997, college: Kansas, agency: BMS Sport Agency) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American-Argentinian Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion Astros keep the second place with three games lost. Astros will play next round against Halcones Rojos trying to get back on the winning streak. Santos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
